Philipsburg is the Dutch-side capital and the island's cruise gateway. The capital of Sint Maarten curls around Great Bay, with the shopping street of Front Street one block back from a beach and boardwalk lined with bars and restaurants. On a big cruise day it is one of the busiest places on the island. On a day with no ships in, it can feel half asleep. Knowing which kind of day you're arriving on changes everything.

Getting there
About 15 minutes by taxi from Princess Juliana Airport. Cruise passengers reach Front Street by a short water taxi or a 15-minute walk from the pier. The main bus route runs through town, and paid parking lots sit on the edge of the center.
