This week on St. Martin
Four cruise days in the middle, three empty ones at the end. Monday has no ships at all. Tuesday is the heavy one: Icon of the Seas and Rhapsody of the Seas are both alongside at the Cruise Terminal until 5pm, the only two-ship day this week. Wednesday's Carnival Magic stays later than most, until 6pm, and Star of the Seas holds Thursday until 5pm. Then Friday, Saturday and Sunday are clear. Both things worth planning around this week land on that quiet weekend, and both are on the French side. Saturday morning, October 10, Amuseum Naturalis in French Quarter holds its Migratory Bird Festival from 9am to noon, which is free to walk into and the one to bring kids to. Sunday, October 11, the Pink Walk sets off from the Galisbay car park outside Marigot at 6am for Octobre Rose, the French side's breast cancer awareness month, with a zumba class and breakfast after. Two honest notes. Nothing is confirmed on the Dutch side this week. Le Pelican's weekend agenda for October 9 to 11 normally posts on Thursday, and the Daily Herald's Out 'N About listings are a print supplement we cannot read automatically, so expect more by Thursday. And three things are on the SHTA annual calendar for this week that we could not confirm anywhere else: a Paradise Showdown basketball tournament by Performance Sports Academy listed for October 3 to 7, an International Off-Road Day at Johnny's Scooter and ATV on Thursday October 8, and a Formula 1 race-weekend viewing listing for October 9 to 11. None of the three carries a time, and only one has a venue. We are leaving them off the page until someone confirms them.

Migratory Bird Festival at Amuseum Naturalis, Saturday 9am to noon. This is Les Fruits de Mer's yearly morning for the birds that pass through St. Martin on their way south each autumn, held at the open-air museum at The Old House in French Quarter. The Amuseum is free to visit and all its exhibits are outdoors, so wear a hat and bring water. Go early, before the heat. Getting there: French Quarter is a taxi ride from Marigot or Philipsburg, see our taxi zone chart.

The Pink Walk, Sunday from 6am. Twirling Entertainment's Octobre Rose walk for breast cancer awareness. Wear pink, the more the better, and meet at the Galisbay car park outside Marigot. A zumba class and breakfast follow the walk. Booking and information by phone on +590 690 32 34 30 or +590 690 28 58 08, both French numbers. The source gives no price and no finish time. Skip it if a 6am Sunday start is not your idea of a holiday.

Read from the Port St. Maarten schedule portal in a real browser on Monday October 5. The whole week sits inside the October table, so there is no month-boundary gap. Five calls in seven days, four of them on the Tuesday to Thursday stretch. Monday October 5: no ships. Tuesday October 6: Icon of the Seas 5:30am to 5pm at CPN-NE and Rhapsody of the Seas 7am to 5pm at CPN-NW, the only two-ship day of the week and the one to work around. Expect Front Street, the Boardwalk and Great Bay to be busy from mid-morning to the 5pm sail-away, with long taxi and water-taxi queues. Wednesday October 7: Carnival Magic 8am to 6pm at CPN-NE. It sails an hour later than the others, so Philipsburg stays busy into the early evening; a dinner reservation in town before 6:30pm will feel it. Thursday October 8: Star of the Seas 7am to 5pm at CPN-NE. Friday, Saturday and Sunday: no ships. Both events on this page land on those clear days. The Saturday bird festival is in French Quarter, well away from the cruise traffic anyway, and the Sunday Pink Walk starts at Galisbay, which is the French side's cargo and ferry port, not a cruise pier.
